USUKANI x YOKOMO

I finally had a chance to fit my USUKANI parts onto yet again another plastic tub build, and would you believe it was my girlfriend that built most of it, well with a little help from me of course, it was kind of a team effort so we breezed though the build process, at the end of it i just put it the technical work and set up the front end ...

Now the Yokomo RWD kit is great piece of hardware for anyone that owns a drift package and wants to convert to RWD, it contains all the necessary bits and pieces to change up your entire steering front end, steering arms, a-arms, y-arms, knuckles and everything to put them together, you can get some serious high angle lock with this kit, in my case here i've only used the high angle steering arms and with these new USUKANI parts i think i've achieve some pretty good angle, lets take a look at the pics below.

^
At neutral its about 0 - 1 degrees toe out.

^
Some serious HIGH angle lock and good ackerman.

^
Thanks to USUKANI for the parts, they've all work out really well here.

TACYON AIRIA

^
I've been running Sanwa ESC's since the day they released and they have been really good to me, no issues what so ever, BUT i've always had my eye on the Acuvance systems and so i think its about time i take the dive and try it out.

A change of plans for the CE-RX

^
Its been awhile since i've posted on my blog, i took a little break so hence the lack of updates, but during that time i've had time to think about my current chassis, the doripake was changed over form the kazama to the JECT RACING but now i've decided to take another approach to it so its been pulled apart and in pieces. So with the DP out of action it was the perfect time to wake up the wolf from hibernation but once again i was making the decision to make some changes to the CERX.

Running the plastic DP RWD ...

I've finally got a video of my BASIC plastic DP rwd ... it goes to show that you really don't need that much to have a great RWD chassis, just as long as you have the right parts and the know how something as basic as this can be just as much fun to build and tune amongst all the alloy builds out there.

ENJOY!!

Its time to get back to the basics!!!!! whats necasary and whats not necassary ....

^
What is and what isn't necessary to have an ultimate RWD machine, for this build plastic and the necessary upgrades is all i need and all at minimal costs too. Tuning and knowledge will be my guide.

Rebuilding the White Wolf

 ^
The first step to rebuilding the ce-rx was to clean up as best as i could the SSG decks, having bought it used form japan it was sure to have a bit of dirt and grime from use although it wasn't too bad and it was in pretty good condition.

^
Applying the first tail-slider part and such good quality.

^
Front shock tower and bumper.

 ^
Rear shock tower, D-Like alloy 32t pulley, rc art solid spool with weight.

 ^
Rc art alloy battery holder - gunmetal

^
The stock shock towers got some added dress up items - alloy springs cups and kazama shock caps.

To Be Continued .....

Bought not Built x Dirft the wall

^
This post is slightly late but about a week ago RC Wonderland held a body comp which was specific to 2 categories - BOUGHT or BUILT, after the body comp a Drift The Wall comp was held. I was a judge for both the body comp and the drift comp, so seeing as i was not entering either one i took the time to take a whole bunch of photo's, i had also newly acquired a super zoom lens so it was the perfect time and event to use it.

24hr matsuri

^
Picture from last nights 24hr Matsuri taken at 1am ... i personally only lasted 5hrs but i was so buggered after coming straight from work, sorry for the lack of more pictures but all i wanted to do was drift as much as i could with my mates from Newcastle, Melbourne and Gold Coast that had made the trip ... it was a blast banging doors with you all.

RC WONDERLAND ...

 ^
It was just another Wednesday Dori session but as i entered the track i was WOWZERD!! at the new additions to the track and don't they make the track come alive, i was very highly impressed by this that i had to take a few quick snap shots to show the amount of work put into this place by the owner and helping hands.

NEW rear roll suspension test run ...

^

Had a chance to to test out my new rear roll suspension setup ... compared to my standard setup i noticed the consistent levels of grip though the corners, sweepers and bends i was able to power down more on throttle through these sections of the track .. transitions also felt better, smooth and snappier but the rear is feeling more controllable than ever, i can easily choose my lines and place the car where i want it to go .. overall i'm quite happy with the mod.

I also found that i was able to run my super soft kazama springs since the the 3rd shock added a bit of stiffness to the dampening on compression but the roll momentum was soft.

SUSPENSION ROLL!!

^
Been wanting to try this for a while now since i bought these parts a while back too, but it never came to mind until i saw Anthony Lim do it and it reminded me .. so here it is and i've created a video (out of boredom .. haha).

THE WOLF IS HERE!!!

^
My dream chassis has arrived .. rc art white wolf, my plans for this chassis are simple High Counter Steer goodness, i'll be aiming for 3.0+.

^
I'm gonna try and keep this build simple .. well thats the plan anyways ... the gears i've chosen to use are 43-9-22-32 this will give me just a little bit over 3.0 CS.

^
43t pulley will have to be custom fitted to the front one-way.

 ^
Custom 9t pulley will help under drive the front.

 ^
Now some issues with having to fit a larger pulley in the front is the pulley rubbing up against the front shock tower, bottom chassis plate cut-out and front suspension block, so in order to avoid this i've had to space the shock tower forward 3-4mm and space up the front bulkhead and motor mounting 0.5mm ... this should help reduce the amount of rubbing on any parts of the chassis, it'll also avoid me from having to shave any parts of the chassis ... i'll also look into using smaller spacers under the suspension blocks or possibly removing them just to add a little bit more clearance to the pulley.

^
Its hard to see in this picture but the pulley comes real close to chassis plate cut-out hopefully i won't have to shave down the carbon fibre to avoid chassis plate damage and yes it is used but i still don't like the idea of hurting her... haha.

S-chassis festa - NEWCASTLE

^
We recently had our ONE10.RCDT x NDRC S-Chassis Festa event up in Newcastle on the weekend, with a few of the RCDU boys coming up too, the drive was about 2 hours, 162km NNE of Sydney, a 6:30am wake up for me and meeting up with the crew to leave at about 830am and arriving 10:30am,  we did kinda get lost due to relying on the facebook MAPS taking us 10mins away from our actual destination .. haha, we finally found our way in the end.

Onevia update

Onevia is done for now, other than a few imperfections here and there it turned out exactly how i imagined it.

Final tune

^
So after a good session yesterday i finally found a setting that i was very pleased with, the rear batter layout really performs well on the Kazama and i'm enjoying the way it drifts on the track, especially with our new HUGE layout, all it took was some spring swaps and some tender loving attention to the rear suspension setup.

I'll now have a setup ready over on my kazama page.

Tail-Zama ...

 ^
I bought the DP tail-slider towers a few weeks ago, but i hadn't been bothered to put them on, i already had the front bumper and spur gear cover, so i thought now would be that time to add them. The add extra thick alloy adds some stiffness and a bit of weight too, which is always good.

Kazama's rear battery first run ...

^
Today was the first run for my new battery layout and i have to say i do prefer it this way rather than the weight shift, there was very little changes done to the settings at all other than playing around with a few different springs in the rear and settling on hards, i also adjusted the rear shock positions and had them leaning in more. The surface at RCW is very very slippery so this battery setup does make that rear end swing around real fast especially when you wanna chuck it down the straight or when you wanna through it into a corner it'll get sideways more .. more fun times!!!

Kazama update ....

 ^
A change in battery position for the kazama, but it still looks clean. After driving Hakimo's chassis and the feel of its rear so planted i decided to apply it to the kazama, i've always wanted to try this so we'll see how it goes, the other thing is that i'm gonna tune this for less understeer unlike Hakimo's which is more understeer.

 ^
Talking about an ASS SO PHAT.

^
Mounted and fitted perfectly but it wasn't easy though, the holes of the WUN shorty battery holder plate didn't line up with the gear case so i had to use kazama extensions that act like an adaptor so i can mount it to the gear case.

Yokomo S14 Zenki

^
So there's an S-Chassis meet at the end of the month and although i may already have my 180SX, i thought this might be perfect the time to start my S14 that i had cut out awhile back, this is far from finished as you can see and it may not be clear in the picture but i wasn't happy with my painting job .. oh well!! either way this will still turn out looking good ... i've got tons to do.

Untill next time ....

Something Random ..

^
Now i'm a 90's kid and when i was a kid my first ever hobby i ever started was skating and till this day i still love skating, i just wish by body was still up for it. But i still love all things skate and back when i was a kid i fell in love with this game on my nintendo nes
"SKATE OR DIE"

So now i'm slightly a little bit older and although my hobbies have changed since i was kid, i'm able to create something that draws inspiration from my current hobby, older hobby and gaming.

 ^
"SLIDE OR DIE"
It's just a simple design, its just a little something that show my love for skating and my passion for rc drift.

^
Slide Or Die stickers in all sort of colours, these are just a sample.
